Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Madrid

The Short Version

I am Sofia Martinez, based in Madrid, and for several years I have been recording my experiences at gyms across Spain.

This site came about after I grew weary of selecting fitness centers by ads and fuzzy suggestions, only to find that the real experience didn't match. I sought concrete, candid insights into what these places are really like. When I couldn't find them, I built this.

Well over a dozen Gyms Visited
Several years Years Active
More than two hundred Classes Attended

How This Started

My fitness routine began at a small gym near Avenida de la Salud in Madrid. It wasn't flawless, but it was reachable, affordable, and it helped me stay consistent.

When that gym closed, I watched the fitness scene in Spain evolve quickly. New clubs opened, new concepts appeared, and marketing became louder than the real member experience.

I began trying various gyms and classes, jotting down observations after each visit. Eventually those notes became this site, created to help others make more informed decisions.

My Approach to Reviews

Each review here stems from firsthand visits and time spent inside the facility. I emphasize practical details that matter when picking a membership.

When evaluating a center, I usually:

  • Spend sufficient time to grasp routines, peak times, and rhythms
  • Visit on multiple days and at various times
  • Experiment with more than one training format and trainer
  • Use facilities regularly to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Speak with other members about consistency and differences
  • Take notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when significant changes occur: renovations, changes in management, pricing shifts, or new facilities. Each article displays its most recent update date so you can gauge currentness.

What I Look For

My priorities may differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when assessing a gym:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel thoughtfully designed for members, with respectful boundaries and a calm vibe?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well kept? Is there enough variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd Management: Can you train during your preferred times without constant waiting?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness shows how seriously management takes the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Clear pricing, clear rules, and no unpleasant surprises.

Beyond the Gym

Besides training and writing, I live and work in Madrid. This project aims to simplify fitness decisions and make them more transparent for those seeking the right setting.
